Back from Valdez!

Filed under: Everyday Life — Susan Stevenson @ 7:26 am

Sorry for my absence! Steve and I drove to Valdez for the weekend, and we just returned last night. I took many photos and have a lot to write about, but it’s going to take some time to gather my thoughts (and photos) and make a substantial journal entry.

We had quite the adventure: the truck broke down, we had to be towed, we met very nice people, we had luck on our side, and Steve caught several fish.

The full story, and plenty of photos to come!

  1. Can’t wait. Gave your name and website to a friend I met on the Arctic Cam. She just moved to Fairbanks and is set to marry her boyfriend(just got back from Iraq). She wants to be married outside and was looking at Creamers field. I told her to contact you because you have many pictures and might have some great thoughts as to where to go.

As always can’t wait to see and read your blog.

Thanks for referring me, Tammy. Creamers Field would be a nice place, but I’m not sure if they have the capabilities (or if they’re willing) to hold a wedding there. I’ve seen some gorgeous weddings held at the Botanical Gardens, and you can research the information about costs and details online at the UAF site. The only downside to that is that you’d have to get married in July or early August to have full bloom in the gardens. While there are things blooming in June, generally the full effect isn’t until July. They have a covered pavilion there too, in case the weather turns.

    Still working on photos…. :)

They are getting married this Saturday. Her father who is here from Texas is going to perform the ceremony. It will be a small group of people. She is excited about being in Alaska and can’t wait to explore the area.
