Busy Camera

I have finally finished going through the hundreds of photos I’ve taken over the last week.  This entry is going to be very photo heavy…

AROUND TOWN

Last Saturday, I hung out with my friend Lori all day.  Lori is downsizing, and will be moving out of her larger cabin, into a smaller “dry” cabin.  For those who never heard of a dry cabin, a dry cabin is a cabin that does not have water. No water to shower, no water to do dishes, no water to do laundry - and no water to flush a toilet. Dry cabins have outhouses, and those who live in dry cabins have to bring in their own water (in jugs and containers) for cooking, drinking, washing dishes, and washing up.

If you do a search on YouTube, you can find several videos that show what life in a dry cabin is like.  It’s not an easy way to live, but it’s not impossible either.  And up here, where real estate and rentals are costly, sometimes dry cabins are the only affordable solution.  I know it’s going to save Lori several hundred dollars a month. I’m happy to report that she found a cabin that will suit her needs, and will be moving into it on June 1st.  I can’t wait to see how she decorates her outhouse.

While out and about, we stopped along the way to take photos and enjoy the glorious sunshine. It was a beautiful day, with temps in the 60s, and it was nice to get out and watch the river flow by.  These photos were taken at the small riverside park on Chena Pump Road, just before it climbs up to Chena Ridge Road.
